What happens after the Botschaftstermin?

Short answer

After the Botschaftstermin (the appointment at the German embassy), the visa processing begins. The documents are first checked in the home country and then submitted digitally to the ZAV in Bonn. Once the ZAV has given its approval, this is passed back to the German Auslandsvertretung (German diplomatic mission abroad), which then completes the visa processing.
