This website is aimed at families who already carry a great deal in everyday life. It is not meant to slow anyone down further. That is why we say openly here what works and what does not.
What we are aiming for
We orient ourselves on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines in version 2.2, conformance level AA. That is the standard by which we measure ourselves. We do not claim to have fully achieved it at every point already.
What is already fulfilled
- Operation without a mouse. All menus, expandable elements, question sequences and form elements can be reached with the keyboard. The focus is visible at all times.
- Operation without JavaScript. Every page is fully readable and usable even if JavaScript is not executed. Sliders are genuine scroll areas, expandable cards are native elements, question sequences have a form-based path.
- Contrast. Body text and control elements meet at least a ratio of 4.5 to 1, large text at least 3 to 1.
- Calm motion. There is no flashing, no countdown, no automatic playback with sound and no scroll hijacking. The system setting "reduce motion" switches off every animation — motion, never content.
- Magnification. The pages can be zoomed to 200 per cent without requiring horizontal scrolling.
- Font size. Body text starts at 17 pixels.
- Click targets. Buttons and links in menus and directories are at least 44 by 44 pixels in size.
- Alternative text. Images that carry content have a description. Purely decorative images are marked as such.
What is still open
We are aware of these points and are working on them. We name them here rather than keeping quiet about them:
- There is not yet a version in Easy Language (Leichte Sprache) or in German Sign Language (Deutsche Gebärdensprache).
- Some longer blog texts are linguistically demanding, because they have to explain official terms.
- An independent review by an external specialist body is still outstanding.
- Third-party documents that are linked to, such as forms and information sheets from authorities, are outside our influence. We cannot guarantee their accessibility.
How we checked
The statements are based on our own review in July 2026: keyboard operation without a mouse, calling up the pages without JavaScript, measuring the contrast ratios and checking the display at 200 per cent magnification. A review by an independent body has not taken place.
