Do we have to collect our au pair from the airport?
Short answer
Yes. As a host family, you are responsible for collecting your au pair from the agreed airport on arrival, and for providing corresponding support with the departure at the end of the au pair stay.

What lies behind it
If the au pair does not fly back to their home country afterwards but stays in Germany, for example for an FSJ or vocational training, please take them to the nearest railway station instead, from where they can continue their onward journey.
