May the au pair work on the side?
Short answer
No. Additional employment alongside the au pair arrangement is not permitted. This is not a rule set by our agency, but follows from the legal requirements for an au pair stay.

No additional employment
The au pair's stay in Germany is tied to the purpose of the au pair placement. Further employment or an additional side job is therefore not allowed.
Even if the au pair has free time outside their agreed au pair working hours, this time may not be used for additional paid employment.
