Can we expect small tasks on the au pair's day off?
Short answer
The basic rule is: a day off is a day off. No work tasks are assigned to the au pair on this day.
At the same time, an au pair lives as a family member in the household. Small, everyday things that are part of family life together — for example clearing the table together after a shared meal — can therefore still be part of a day off.

Distinguishing family life from working time
It is important to discuss from the start what you expect from one another within your family life. What rules apply to everyone? How does everyone help out in everyday life? And what does living together with the children look like outside working hours?
Such family rules are something different from concrete au pair tasks. Childcare or household tasks should not be planned for the day off. The day off should be at the au pair's own disposal.
