What sets Besondere Sterne apart from a classic au pair agency?

Besondere Sterne is not a classic au pair placement agency. Our focus is on families with children with a disability, developmental delays, autism, ADHD, ADD or other additional needs. At the same time, we of course also place au pairs with families whose children do not have a disability.

The decisive difference starts with our au pairs themselves: anyone who applies to Besondere Sterne knows what our agency stands for. Our au pairs consciously choose inclusion and choose to support a child with a disability or additional needs in everyday family life as well.

Preparation before arrival

Our au pairs are not simply selected and placed. While still in their home country, they go through our au pair academy with learning videos, tests and regular preparation calls. They engage in depth with life as an au pair, everyday family life in Germany, and the particular demands that living alongside a child with a disability, autism, ADHD or ADD can bring.

Practical experience, not just theory

Preparation includes practical experience in childcare. In addition, our au pairs complete a mandatory placement in a facility working with children with a disability. This means their first contact with disability and additional needs does not happen only after arriving in your family.

Support does not end with the placement

We also stay by the side of our au pairs and host families after arrival. The first weeks in particular are decisive for living well together. That is why we support both sides during the first twelve weeks with regular live calls and help with settling in together and with questions arising from the new everyday family life.

Our aim is not simply to place an au pair.

We want to place an au pair alongside families who knows what they are getting into, arrives well prepared, and is ready to become part of a distinctive everyday family life.
