The time afterwards

When should we start looking for the next au pair?

Short answer

Ideally, you get in touch with us around three months before the planned end of the current au pair stay. This leaves enough time to get to know a new au pair without rushing, complete the formalities and plan the arrival. Depending on the situation, a placement can of course also be arranged at shorter notice.

What lies behind it

If your au pair is staying with you for twelve months, for example, we recommend beginning the search for the next au pair from around the ninth month.

Three months' lead time gives you the chance to get to know different au pairs without time pressure and make a decision that really suits your family. After that, there is enough time left for the visa, formalities and organising the arrival.

If it is already clear earlier when your current au pair will leave the family, you can of course get in touch with us sooner too. And should things become more short notice, we will look together at what options are available.
